Many Times

there were many times in our journey
i found myself in a dark and lonely wood
searchin for the right way to follow
walkin when i wasn’t sure i could
many times i would stumble
many times i would fall
many times i’d only stand there
with my head poundin against a wall
many times
many times
and many other times
too hard to understand
there were many times when the clouds would open
and the sunlight come pourin through
many times when the wind was blowin
and the fragrance in the air was fresh and new
times when evil angels would surround me
boastful mouths filled with vain deceit
but they could not turn my gaze from Jesus
as i lay prone and praising at his feet
many times
many times
and many other times
too hard to understand
there were many times when the sea was troubled
many times calm before the storm
many times when my ship was floatin
where the breeze is gentle and the air is warm
and seagulls would fly all around me
laughin and cryin all the same
times when i have seen the dove descending
to comfort and take away my shame
many times
many times
and many many other times
too hard to understand
there are times when we must retire
times to rest the burdens that we bear
there are times we must release our debtors
from the invoices that we prepare
times to clothe the naked
times to give sight to the blind
times to speak the truth out boldly
even when the world seems of a different mind
many times
many times
and many other times
too hard to understand
